New Program Seeks To Bridge Gap In Senior Care

A new program is underway designed to make sure area seniors are being taken care of.

Senior Reach provides home based help for older adults who may be sad, anxious, forgetful or showing sudden changes in behavior that are worrisome.

Program coordinator Kelli Garrison says they are encouraging people to sign up for the program or to refer people they know who may be benefitted by it.

The program is presented by the Copper Country Mental Health Services Institute and is for adults at least 60 years old who are living at home.

Garrison says they are trying to educate community members to look for signs that help is needed and not to assume that it’s just part of getting older.

Help is available by calling 482-HELP and asking for a Senior Reach Specialist.
