New Phone Scam Says They Are From Hancock Schools

A new scam is targeting area residents disguised as helping a local school system.

Hancock Police Chief Wayne Butler gave his 4th Quarter Report to the city council at their February meeting Wednesday.

Butler warned that people are receiving calls asking for money to support the Hancock Senior High Sports Association.

The calls are made to appear as if they are originated in Michigan.

Police urge residents to verify any organization before donating to them and never give out personal or banking information over the phone.
