The new Literacy Coach for the Copper Country Intermediate School District is ready to start making a difference in local schools.
Angela Emblad gave a presentation to the CCISD Board of Education at their regular meeting this week.
Emblad said she is here to support local teachers and schools by helping teachers interpret assessment scores, determining next steps and setting goals, assisting in identifying and implementing successful instructional strategies, demonstrating and modeling appropriate lessons for classroom teachers, providing feedback to teachers who week ways to improve their instruction, delivering school-based professional development as requested and supporting literacy practices for teachers at the classroom level down to the individual student level.
Emblad said she is looking forward to years of learning with teachers and helping to grow the literacy success of the students.
In other business, a long time member of the board was recognized at the meeting.
A Special Service Award was presented to Karen Johnson for her 25 years of service on the CCISD Board.
Superintendent George Stockero thanked Johnson for her dedication to the students and the staff of the CCISD and the community as a whole.
