New Bus Garage For CCISD

The Copper Country Intermediate School District has a new place to store their buses.

Superintendent George Stockero gave CCISD Board of Education members a tour of the new bus garage at its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday.

The ISD had used the current CTE Center to store their buses.  Once the new classes were built at the CTE center, the ISD had to find a place to store the buses.  Last year, the buses were stored in a local rented building.

Having the new bus garage on the same property as the main ISD offices and classrooms will allow the drivers more flexibility to work on the buses during the day.

Stockero and the board said they were pleased with the project, built by DP Construction.

Last week, the third party substitute teacher company, WillSub was in the Copper Country.

They met with all the local schools to get everything set up for the upcoming year.  They also hosted three meet and greets.  Two of meetings were for current substitute teachers and one was for new substitute teachers.

Stockero informed the board that the meet and greets were well attended.  WillSub enrolled roughly 15 new substitute teachers.  The company plans to host more meet and greets in the future.

At Stockero’s recommendation, the board increased the substitute teacher pay to $100 for those subbing in the CCISD Special Education programs.

“The project turned out great. DP Construction did a nice job with the entire project. Our bus drivers are very pleased with their new building,” Stockeo
