There’s a new commander in charge of the Negaunee State Police Post.
Matthew LaBonte was recently promoted from Detective Sergeant to First Lieutenant, and given the new assignment.
Along with the Negaunee Post, LaBonte will oversee the Munising Detachment, and administer all Michigan State Police services in Marquette and Alger counties.
LaBonte is a 20-year MSP veteran. He has served at several posts, and been a member of the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team.
He is an Escanaba native, and a graduate of Northern Michigan University.
