Michigan Tech has been approved for membership in the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research.
UCAR is a nonprofit consortium of more than 100 colleges and universities providing research and training in atmospheric science.
Three members of the organization visited the campus in July to talk with staff members and students, and tour facilities.
The vote to add Tech to the group was unanimous.
