MTU Design Expo Returns Today

The annual Michigan Tech Design Expo returns to a live format today, after two years as a virtual event.

More than 1,000 MTU students in the Enterprise and Senior Design programs will present projects live on campus. The public is invited to see what they’ve come up with between 10:00 and 2:00 at the Van Pelt and Opie Library. There is no charge.

Students are competing for honors, and more than $3,000 in cash prizes. The awards ceremony will take place at 3:00.

While the Expo has traditionally focused on students in the College of Engineering, this year’s showcase will also feature entries from the College of Business, College of Computing, College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, and College of Sciences and Arts.

Special guests include 187 students from Houghton and Calumet middle schools participating in Michigan Tech’s GEAR UP program. SOAR, the Dollar Bay High School’s Student Organization of Aquatic Robotics Enterprise team, will also be there to showcase their underwater remotely operated vehicles.
