“Finding Dory” kicks off the Movie Magic Film Series at the Calumet Theatre on Wednesday, July 5 at 7 pm. Admission is $1 per person with fresh popcorn and concessions for sale. Kids 13 and under have a chance to win prizes including a bike.
The friendly but forgetful blue tang fish, Dory, begins a search for her long-lost parents, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way. The 2016 film set numerous records, including the highest-grossing animated film opening of all time in North America.
Movie Magic Films are a summer favorite of area kids and their families as well as visitors who have a chance to experience the historic Calumet Theatre the way their grandparents did when it was a movie house. There are six more Movie Magic Films on Wednesdays: July 12 – WALL-E; July 19 – Zootopia; July 26 – Madagascar; Aug. 2 – Maleficent; Aug. 9 – Trolls; and Aug. 16 – Tangled.
The Movie Magic Film Series is in collaboration with the Public Schools of Calumet, Laurium, Keweenaw and is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs Minigrant program, administered by the Region 1A Copper Country Community Arts Council and Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
