Mohawk Secretary of State On Winter Hours

Keweenaw County has one Secretary of State branch office and, in the busy season, it’s open two days a week.

The county is sparsely populated and doesn’t generate enough business to run the office for a full work week, so the branch carries normal business hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

However, this time of year, that volume decreases as many seasonal residents travel elsewhere for the winter.

So the branch restricts its hours of operation to Thursday’s only from now until April.

Branch Manager Jennifer Paoli said, “Because of the traffic flow, the weather, we have a lot of snow birds in the area, the Mohawk office goes to one day a week, which is Thursday. They are there from 9:00 to 12:30, and 1:30 till 5:00.”

To accommodate for the Thanksgiving holiday, the branch will move that day to Wednesday of next week, but will resume to Thursday’s only after Thanksgiving.

Paoli said, “Next Wednesday, for the Thanksgiving holiday, they will be open, same hours—9:00 to 12:30, and 1:30 to 5:00.”

The Secretary of State reminds Michigan Residents that most items of business can be found online using the Express SOS service of the Agency’s website at Michigan.gov.
