Mohawk Man Killed In Vehicle Crash

A Mohawk man is dead following a vehicle crash in Keweenaw County.

The accident happened on Wednesday just after 7:30pm on #6 Road in Allouez Township.

The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office says 32-year-old Bradley M. Spagnotti was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on #6 Road near First Street in Ahmeek when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck several trees and overturned.

The vehicle came to rest on its side, facing east along the northbound shoulder of the road.

Spagnotti was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Keweenaw County Medical Examiner’s Office.

39-year-old Nathan Ritzko of Ahmeek was a passenger in the vehicle.  He sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital by Mercy Ambulance.  His condition was not reported.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash which is under investigation by the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Allouez Township Medical First Responders, Allouez Township Fire Department, Calumet Township Fire Department, Mercy Ambulance, and the Keweenaw County Medical Examiner’s Office.
