Miller Resigns from Laurium Council – Council Meeting Wrap

The Village of Laurium is looking for a new council member.

Longtime councilor Loralee Miller has resigned, notifying officials by letter that she is moving outside the village.

Councilor Amy Schneiderhan said Miller will be missed…

Council members decided to proceed with filling out Miller’s term, which will expire in November. Interested candidates can contact village hall. They hope to name a replacement at their July 21st meeting.

At last night’s meeting, Schneiderhan also praised the efforts that have been made to beautify the village. Flowers abound…

Planters have been set out through the village. The beautification committee will also be taking over the flower beds in Danielle Park, after the volunteer who had been maintaining them said she could no longer continue.

Schneiderhan said several art installations have also been completed…

She thanked all those who have assisted in the beautification effort.

The Laurium village council also set the date for its annual Headlee meeting, at which millage rates for the 2020-2021 fiscal year will be set. The public hearing will begin at 5:15 on June 29th, with a special council meeting to follow.
