In line with Governor Whitmer’s efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, Michigan’s Supreme Court has authorized trial courts to implement emergency efforts to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus and provide the greatest protection possible to those who work and have business in our courts.
All courts in Michigan’s 12th District, including the 12th Circuit Court, Probate Courts and the 97th District Courts for Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw Counties, have enacted the following precautionary measures- Effective immediately, the courts are asking you not come to the courthouse for non-emergency or routine matters.
Contact them by phone, to determine the best course of action.
All civil cases are adjourned, although you’re advised to contact the appropriate court for confirmation.
The courts are considering conducting hearings by phone or other electronic means, on a case by case basis.
Treatment testing, with the exception of Soberlink, will be temporarily suspended, this will remain in effect, until further notice.
Mediation by Friend of the Court, will take place via electronic means.
District Court Probationers will report by phone, until April 3rd, then they will follow the instructions of the probation officer for reporting requirements.
All traffic related informal hearings scheduled with the Magistrate Offices will be adjourned and rescheduled.
Look for a notice in the mail, after April 3rd.

No weddings performed by the Court, will be scheduled at this time.
Guardians ad litem may conduct any and all required visits by phone or other electronic means and guardians who must see wards at a nursing home, are excused through the end of April.
