Michigan Tech’s Library Has New Director

Michigan Tech’s J. Robert Van Pelt and John and Ruanne Opie Library has a new director.

Erin Matas, former information services team leader for the library has accepted the position.

In addition to previous positions in San Francisco and Brussels Belgium, Matas has also worked for the University of Michigan and the Library of Congress.

As director, Matas’ primary focus will be working with faculty, staff, students, alumni and the general public to address and meet the needs of anyone utilizing the library’s services. 

Provost and senior vice president for academic affairs Jacqueline Huntoon said “We are fortunate to have someone like Erin on staff and I thank her for her willingness to serve and undertake this new challenge.”

Matas will be replacing Josh Olson, who served as interim director for the past two years.
