Michigan Tech Student-Built Nanosatellite Launched Into Space

A nanosatellite built by students from Michigan Tech is now in orbit.

The Oculus-ASR was launched on the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket Tuesday morning from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The project was the culmination of hundreds of students who have worked on the project for the past 10 years as part of the Aerospace Enterprise at Michigan Tech.

The nanosatellite will take part in a 9-month mission to assist the Department of Defense in more efficient and accurate monitoring of the myriad of objects circling the globe.
