Michigan Tech Hosts Keweenaw’s First Ever Waste Reduction Drive

Michigan Tech will be hosting the Keweenaw’s first ever Waste Reduction Drive this Saturday from 9a-3p at the Lot 24 parking lot.

There are 5 items that will be collected, to be repurposed.

They are foil lined energy bar wrappers, which will be recycled into hard plastic for manufacturing.

Plastic bottle caps and rings, which will converted into kitchenware a toothbrushes.

Plastic bags with recycling numbers, and alkaline batteries, which will be properly recycled. Styrofoam egg cartons, will be given to chicken farmers.

Educational opportunities for other waste products will also be available.
