Michigan is in need of poll workers for the upcoming May elections.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is looking for election workers to help out during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The election will be held by mail, but workers are needed to process and count ballots.
Michigan has a high percentage of elderly poll workers, who are not willing to risk exposure to the Coronavirus.
Younger, stronger people are needed, and that’s why Benson is reaching out to large employers, colleges and even sports teams.
Benson had this to say regarding the search for new poll workers “Democracy is a team sport, and election workers are the most valuable players.”
Secretary of State Benson also added this “All election work will be done in strict adherence to the protocols to prevent coronavirus transmission including exercising social distancing, using sanitary equipment and maintaining strong hygiene.”
All registered voters are eligible to serve as election workers statewide.
