Michigan COVID Rate Continues Upward

Michigan’s COVID-19 rate continues to climb. The current seven-day rolling diagnoses average stands at 2,623 per day. One of every 11 tests given is producing a positive result.

The increase is statewide, but the worst outbreak continues to be in the Upper Peninsula, particularly in counties near the Wisconsin border.

Dickinson County still leads the state, with a seven-day average daily diagnosis rate of 82 positives per 100,000 residents. Delta County is close behind, at 74, with Iron County at 71. Gogebic County is at 66, and Ontonagon County is at 60 – diagnoses rates have jumped by 50 percent in both of those counties in the last week. Baraga County’s rate has more than doubled, and stands at 47 daily diagnoses per 100,000 residents. Houghton County’s rate is a more modest 25, but still increased 30 percent over the previous week.
