The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is reporting that the majority of businesses forced to close during the shutdown, plan on re-opening, once the Governor’s “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive Order is lifted.
The chamber asked it’s members 3 questions.
The first was “What do you need to restart and bring employees back?” nearly 71 percent answered the “Stay Home Stay Safe” order to be lifted.
They were next asked if they “Supported a phased in approach to restarting economic activities?” 69 percent favored this approach.
When asked if the “Stay Home Stay Safe” Order had to be extended past April 30th, should it be statewide or limited to hot spots and high risk regions?” 57 percent favored the order being limited to high risk regions, while 21 percent favored the order being statewide.
Jim Holcomb, senior executive vice president of Michigan’s Chamber of Commerce said “Chamber members have consistently stated they support safety first, but also believe that our workforce cannot be sidelined indefinitely without causing long-term damage to our economy.”
Michigan’s Chamber of Commerce, founded in 1959, represents over 5,000 employers, trade associations and chambers of commerce.
