Melting Snow Causes High Waters on the Sturgeon.

A flood advisory remains in effect for a Houghton County River. 

A steady rise has been observed on the Sturgeon River near Chassell over the

past few days due to snow melt in the area. This snow melt will continue across

the Sturgeon River drainage basin over the next few days.

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a

* Flood Advisory for

The Sturgeon River in the Chassell area.

* until Friday morning.

Flood stage is 10.5 feet. At which point the river begins to overflow onto Sturgeon River

Road…Rajala Road…and Aho Road.

Residents along these rivers should remain alert and

exercise caution when walking near riverbanks.
