Now that they are back to work, road crews are ramping up new construction projects in the final weeks of the season.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says there will be a lane closure on M-26 near Dollar Bay starting today. The $1.3 million project is to replace a culvert over a tributary of Gooseneck Creek that was damaged during the severe flood in June.
The work will require a single-lane closure with a temporary traffic signal. The project is scheduled to be completed later this month.
A second project is set to begin in Ontonagon County on Monday near Mass City. MDOT is investing about $600,000 to repair settling of the westbound lane and shoulder of M-26 south of Mass City.
The work will require closing M-26 from October 11th through the 23rd. Westbound traffic will be detoured via M-38 to US-45 then back to M-26. The route will be reversed for eastbound traffic.
That project is scheduled to be wrapped up by October 25th.
