Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has announced absent voter ballots will be mailed out to all Michigan voters, for the May 5th election, in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Benson stated “Our country has a long history of carrying out elections in times of crisis, and we are fortunate to have the tools to uphold that history today. Voting by mail protects public health, is highly accessible and was clearly mandated by Michiganders when they overwhelmingly voted in 2018 to amend our state constitution and afford everyone this right.”
Most places simply moved the May ballot initiatives to the August election.
However, some entities were not able to do that, so the Bureau of Elections will mail absent voter ballots, with postage paid return envelopes.
