A Marquette Little League coach has tested positive for COVID-19 infection.
League president Shane Cromell told ABC-10 News Now that the coach had visited Wisconsin recently for youth hockey games.
He felt ill after returning, was tested for COVID-19, and was instructed to self-quarantine until the result was known. He didn’t.
Instead, he coached two Little League games before the positive test came back several days later.
The Marquette County Health Department has begun contact tracing. The Marquette Little League has suspended play.
Because of COVID-19 concerns, Portage Lake Little League, Keweenaw Little League and Baraga County Little League all canceled their seasons before they began. Statewide tournaments have also been canceled.
