The name change of Marquette’s airport is official – and relatively minor.
Sawyer International Airport will be renamed as Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport.
Airport officials say the name change is part of a full re-branding project, which will include a new logo and color scheme that will complement the new terminal reconfiguration project.
In presenting the idea, Marquette County’s consultants said adding the city name to the airport name will help travelers identify the airport’s location more quickly.
