Markkanen Appointed to House Local Government Committee

State Representative Greg Markkanen has been appointed to serve on the House Local Government and Municipal Finance Committee this year. Markkanen is a former member of the Hancock City Council.

The committee typically handles municipal government issues related to budgeting, financial liabilities, zoning, local authority, public safety and planning. In a statement, Markkanen said he looks forward to “taking part in our efforts to address all of the mandates and burdensome rules that affect our local communities.” 

Markkanen will continue to serve as the majority vice chair on the Insurance Committee, and as a member of the Education Committee, Energy Committee, and Military, Veterans and Homeland Security Committee.
