Man Hurt in Schoolcraft Township Crash

Editor’s Note: The responding departments to the crash site were Lake Linden Fire, Bootjack Fire, and Bootjack First Responders.

A single-car crash on the Gay Road Thursday evening sent the a Belleville, Michigan, man to the hospital.

Preliminary information from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department indicates the vehicle was eastbound near Winterhaven Road just after 8:00 when it veered off the right shoulder, then returned to the roadway, crossed the centerline and the opposite traffic lane, hit some trees and caught fire. 

The driver was transported to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital. There’s no word as to the severity of his injuries. His identity has not been released.

The sheriff’s department is continuing its investigation, but has told us they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Firefighters from the Bootjack and Lake Linden departments, and Bootjack First Responders were among those assisting at the scene.
