Portage Health Foundation (PHF) and Michigan Technological University are once again seeking local applicants for the Making a Difference Scholarship.
At the heart of what the Portage Health Foundation does, is investing in health care, health research and health education.
“We believe there is an enormity of opportunity for young people,” said Kevin Store, executive director of the PHFoundation.
“By helping to provide access to higher education opportunities, we can help meet the diverse health needs of our communities by inspiring our next generation of professionals to become scientists, researchers and doctors who can address and solve some of our most challenging health care problems.”
Four high school seniors or transfer students who are residents of Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw or Ontonagon County will receive an $8,000 annual scholarship to attend Michigan Tech in the fall of 2018 and pursue a degree in pre-health, health sciences or health engineering programs.
The scholarship will be renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) of study.
Completed scholarship applications are due by February 15, 2018.
Michigan Tech will host an information session from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the Admissions Office in the McAllister Welcome Center of the Memorial Union Building on Michigan Tech’s campus.
Attendees have the opportunity to learn about health education pathways at Michigan Tech and get details on how to apply for this scholarship and other opportunities such as undergraduate research experiences and athletic training experiences – also funded through the PHF and Michigan Tech partnership.
