For those of you wanting the Main Street Calumet Farmers Market to start back up, the wait is almost over.
On Saturday, and every Saturday through mid-October, the market will be open from 10-2p, with lots of new changes.
New changes start with a new location, they will now operate on the 300 Block of 5th Street, just north of where Thurner’s Bakery was.
Another new feature allows customers to purchase tokens at the Market Table, to use in place of credit, debit and SNAP cards.
Switching to the token system will ease the workload on vendors, and was made possible through a grant, from the Portage Health Foundation.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic is still a threat, vendors will be wearing masks, and those who handle money and tokens will be wearing gloves.
Hand washing stations along with hand sanitizer, will also be available.
You will be reminded to practice social distancing as well.
Crafters will also be part of the market, as they were temporarily suspended, due to COVID-19 but allowed to return on June 8th.
