Road work on M-38 in Houghton, Baraga and Ontonagon Counties will begin next week.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $2.5 million to resurface 27 miles of M-38 from the M-26/M-38 intersection east to Beartown Road.
Crack sealing, drainage and shoulder improvement work is expected to begin on May 7, with roadway resurfacing work planned to begin in late May.
The project is expected to be completed by early August.
While the work is in progress, one lane will be open in alternating directions under flag control.
MDOT says this project will result in an improved driving surface and increased safety, and will extend the lifespan of the roadway.
