M-203 is now open to traffic after a temporary bridge was installed at Swedetown Creek.
The Michigan Department of Transportation opened the road Thursday afternoon after being closed for nearly six weeks following the Father’s Day Flood…which completely wiped out the culvert just north of Hancock.
MDOT is working to design and construct a permanent replacement bridge at the site, but it will be a while before anything is put in place.
In the meantime, motorists should expect one alternating lane open with temporary traffic signals at the bridge.
Paving and debris removal work on M-203 north of the bridge will continue this week under flag control.
