Phyllis Locatelli will continue as president of the CLK Board of Education. At its meeting last night, the board selected Jason Wickstrom to serve as vice-president this year.
The board thanked Matthew Hampton for his work in obtaining an $18,531 grant to cover additional instruction to help early elementary school students reach reading grade level by the end of the third grade. Board members extended their appreciation to the James Ruppe Foundation for a $2500 to Horizons Alternative High School, to Dan Steck, for a $10,000 donation to support Science Olympiad at the high school and middle school, and to American Legion Post 61 for their donation of $600 to the Calumet High School JROTC Battalion.
Board members approved partial funding for the Calumet High School softball team, and authorized an unpaid one-year leave of absence for high school science teacher Joseph Heflin for the 2020-2021 school year.
