MARQUETTE – Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) crews are headed to Tampa, Florida to support restoration efforts after Hurricane Irma caused widespread outages. “Earlier this morning, UPPCO crews departed from the Upper Peninsula to assist with the restoration effort,” said UPPCO Vice-President Brett French. “We understand the challenges being confronted by our Floridian counterparts as they attempt to restore power to their customers and we’re happy to assist.”
“Our line-technicians and supporting staff will be joined by other utility workers from across the nation to restore power to the customers that have been affected by Hurricane Irma,” said French. “The restoration effort will not impact our customers as we have retained sufficient resources here at home to respond to inclement weather or other events that may affect our ability to deliver safe and reliable energy to our customers.”
UPPCO anticipates the crews will support the Hurricane Irma restoration effort through the end of September.
