Local Students Take Part In North Woods Kids Art Competition

North Woods Kids is an annual K-12 student writing and art exhibition and competition inspired by the picture book North Woods Girl, by Aimée Bissonette.

Winners in the categories of writing and visual art for 2016 include students from CLK Elementary, Ewen-Trout Creek, Houghton Elementary, Jeffers Middle School, and L’Anse Middle School.

Work was submitted in response to the prompt: “What would our elders’ lives have been like when they were North Woods kids?”

The public is invited to Coffee, Art and Community this morning from 9-10am in the first floor lobby of the Great Lakes Research Center.

The event is sponsored by the Copper Country Reading Council (with support from the Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative, MTU English Education Dept., and the Copper Country Community Arts Center).
