The Republican and Democratic presidential primaries aren’t the only issues on next Tuesday’s ballot. Some Copper Country residents will be asked to approve millage requests.
In Houghton County…
– Duncan Township will ask for four-year renewals of its one-mill operating levy, and its two-mill fire protection levy.
– Portage Township will request a new two-mill, eight-year levy for road repair; and a renewal of the one-mill, eight-year levy for fire protection.
– Quincy Township will ask voters for five-year renewals of the one-mill levies for operations and fire protection.
– Stanton Township will request a four-year renewal of the two-mill levy for fire protection.
In Baraga County…
– Covington Township will ask for five-year renewals of the one-mill levies for ambulance and fire protection, and recreational programs.
– L’Anse Township will ask for four-year renewals of its one-mill levies for ambulance service, and fire protection.
– Spurr Township will request five-year renewals of its 2.25-mill garbage pickup levy, and its two-mill road millage. The township will also ask for an increase in the cemetery millage from 0.2 mills to 0.35 mills.
In Ontonagon County, Interior Township is requesting a four-year renewal of the half-mill levy for the general fund.
There are no millage requests in Keweenaw County in next week’s election.
