Local Farmers’ Markets Join Forces

Three local farmers’ markets are joining forces to strengthen their offerings for the summer.

The markets in Houghton, Hancock and Calumet have created a new management organization. The From the Ground Farmers Market Collective will oversee the logistics of operating the markets, including relationships with local providers. It will coordinate consumer services, such as credit, debit and Bridge card payments. And, it will work with the three municipalities and other governmental and non-profit organizations to secure funding to underwrite the markets.

To that end, a market manager will be hired to coordinate the 2022 season. Organizers say the manager will need to have great interpersonal skills, along with knowledge of accounting, marketing, and social media.

If you’re interested in the position, you can visit their website to read the full job description and apply. Applications are due this Friday.

The new organization will operate under the umbrella of Main Street Calumet.
