COVID-19 levels held steady in the Copper Country last week. Health department officials confirmed 64 new cases, up slightly from the 60 reported in the previous week.
Statewide levels continue to ease back from the most recent peak, and are now at less than half the level reported a month ago. The daily average of new cases last week came in at 1,588, down around 300 from the previous week. The daily average of COVID-19 related deaths dropped to eight, compared to 15 the previous week.
Officials note that the actual infection rate is likely much higher, since home tests are typically not reported, and mild cases may go undiagnosed. Even infected people with no symptoms can still spread the virus to others.
