UPDATE: As of 11:00 am Thursday, Cathy Aten tells us they now have all the turkeys they need. She thanks the community for its generosity.
Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly needs turkeys.
Executive Director Cathy Kass-Aten tells us they’re at least 18 short of the total required to provide their free Christmas dinners for seniors.
While Christmas is still nearly two weeks away, they need to place the birds in storage at Michigan Tech’s freezers by noon this Friday.
If you would like to provide turkeys, call the Little Brothers office in Hancock at 482-6944. Financial donations which could be used to purchase turkeys are also welcome.
Little Brothers’ free Christmas Day meals for seniors who would otherwise be alone on the holiday will be served locally at 2:00 at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock, Sacred Heart Church in Calumet, St. Ignatius Church in Houghton, the Doelle Senior Center in Tapiola, Grace Lutheran Church in South Range, the Horizons School in Mohawk, St. Ann’s Church in Baraga, and Holy Family Church in Ontonagon.
Call the Little Brothers office to reserve a seat at one of those locations, to set up a delivery to a homebound senior, or to volunteer to help in the effort.
