Little Brothers Seeks Medical Drivers

Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly is seeking more volunteers to drive local seniors to medical appointments…

We are in dire need right now of volunteers for our medical transportation program.

Cathy Kass-Aten of Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly says the greatest need is in Houghton and Keweenaw Counties. Efforts begun a few years ago to expand their medical transport program to Baraga and Ontonagon Counties were stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic, but they’re hoping to get those programs re-started, as well.

High fuel costs are also hurting the effort…

We have vehicles that people can use, but most of the time volunteers would use their own cars, and their own gas. So, we’re looking at some creative ways to help volunteers out with fuel costs.

If you would like to volunteer, contact the Little Brothers office in Hancock.
