Lift Bridge Work Could Cause Evening Delays This Week

Work planned for the Houghton-Hancock Bridge this week could cause some evening traffic delays.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will be replacing fiber optic communications cable connectors.

During the day, the bridge will not be operational. It will be placed in the intermediate position to allow smaller watercraft to pass beneath it, but will not be able to be lifted for taller vessels.

During each evening – after 7:00 – a series of 15-minute test lifts will be performed, which will affect vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
