Laurium Village Part-Timers Get Pay Increases

Some of Laurium’s part-time workers will be getting raises.

Last night, the village council voted to increase the hourly rate for police officers by 50 cents to $19.48 per hour, for truck drivers by 75 cents to $12.00 per hour, and for Zamboni drivers by 25 cents to $10.75 per hour.

Laurium administrator Ed Vertin told us that the council is continuing its work to update some ordinances that have been rendered obsolete over the years. There is no timetable for completion of that project.
