The Village of Laurium has hired a new manager.
Ian Lewis took over management of the village effective January 16th.
Lewis is a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He earned his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law in May of 2022.
As village manager, Lewis will be responsible for various functions of the village, including serving as the chief financial and administrative officer. He will work closely with the Village Clerk, Village Treasurer, Police, Fire and the Department of Public Works.
Lewis’ previous work experience includes drafting proposed ordinances for municipalities and educating residents on their rights, and their communities’ local ordinances.
