The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department has issued a press release with the latest COVID-19 statistics.
Gogebic County has 1 new confirmed case, along with a probable case being elevated to positive and one recovery.
Houghton County also has one new confirmed case, and has also moved a probable case to positive.
Kate Beer, Health Officer with the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department said probable cases are treated like positive cases, with the usual safety protocols including an investigation and contact tracing being carried out.
Probable cases are that which meet clinical and epidemiology criteria with no confirmatory laboratory test performed for COVID-19.
A recovery from the virus is defined as the patient being alive, 30 days after a positive diagnosis.
The Subway located in the Ironwood, Michigan Walmart, has also been identified as a possible exposure site for COVID-19.
The dates of possible exposure were July 7th & 8th.

With the latest cases, the Western Upper Peninsula has 57 confirmed cases, 28 of which are in Houghton County.
There are 21 cases in Gogebic County.
Baraga County is next with 5 cases.
Keweenaw County has two, and Ontonagon County, which was the last county in the state to get their first case, two weeks ago, still has that one case.
