L’Anse Woman Arraigned On Murder Charge

A L’Anse woman is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of a toddler.

37-year-old Genevieve Lynn Meyers was arraigned Thursday in the 97th District Court in Baraga County.  Meyers was arrested Wednesday on the anniversary of the death of 2-year-old Walker Meyers of L’Anse, for whom she was a caregiver.

Authorities say Meyers was unresponsive when she brought him to the emergency room at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital on December 23, 2017.  He was immediately flown by Med-Flight to the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he died of his inflicted injuries.  Medical experts determined his manner of death was homicide.

Meyers will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on January 15th at 10am.  Her bond was set at $1 million.
