L’Anse Releases Proposed Master Plan Update, Seeks DDA Façade and Beautification Grant Applications

The proposed revised master plan for the Village of L’Anse is being released to the public for comment.

The quinquennial update has been in the works for nearly a year, under the auspices of the village’s planning committee. The proposed update will be posted on the village’s website, and a paper copy will be available for review at the village hall.

At last night’s village council meeting, manager Bob LaFave said the release will trigger a 63-day window for public review and feedback. Following the comment period, a public hearing will be held. Changes based on public input will be considered before the revised plan is adopted.

LaFave also noted that applications are now open for L’Anse Downtown Development Association Façade and Beautification grants.

Façade grants provide up to $2,500 of assistance in restoring or upgrading the exterior of businesses within the DDA district. No matching funds from the business owner are needed. As many as five grants will be awarded. Applications are due at the village hall by July 8th.

Beautification grants provide up to $250 for flowers, plants, and related supplies for
business exteriors in the DDA district. Plans must first be approved by the DDA, and the business must commit to at least $250 of additional investment. As many as five grants will be awarded. Applications are due at the village hall by May 10th.

Specific guidelines for each of the grant programs are available at the village hall.
