L’Anse Marina Plans Delayed; Spring Cleanup Set

The upgrade of the L’Anse village marina will proceed more slowly than planned.

At last night’s council meeting, Village Manager Bob LaFave said one of the state officials overseeing the project recently died, and the transfer of the project to another official will cause a delay.

Construction on the new wall at the west end of the marina could still begin mid-summer. The wall will help prevent sediment from drifting into the dock area, and provide a seating area for patrons. Installation of the new floating dock will probably not take place until spring of 2023.

LaFave said they plan to turn on the water at the popular fish cleaning station as soon as temperatures permit…

I don’t want a water fountain down there, because it is getting kind of cold at night.

LaFave said he’s been getting calls from fishermen, but it may be a couple of weeks before they’re comfortable activating it.

The Village of L’Anse has scheduled its annual clean-up for the middle of next month. Between May 16th and 20th, dumpsters will be available at the public works garage. Residents will be required to purchase tags at the village office, and present them when dumping their trash.
