L’Anse DDA Offers Façade, Flower Grants

The L’Anse Downtown Development Authority is expanding its efforts to improve the appearance of the village this summer.

The DDA is again offering its popular Façade Grant Program. Five grants of up to $2,500 each are available to help business owners upgrade their buildings’ appearance. Property owners must match the amount of the grant.

Buildings must be located within the DDA District Boundaries. Projects that will be considered include removal of fake façades, removal of window air conditioners and inappropriate signs, masonry cleaning, painting, siding repair or replacement, and restoration of historic elements.

The DDA is also offering five mini grants of $250 each to cover the cost of establishing flowers or other plants at downtown businesses. Again, the property owner must match the amount of the grant.

The money can be used for annuals or perennials, along with planting containers, soil, fertilizer, and watering supplies. Grant recipients will be required to maintain the plants in good condition through Labor Day.

Full descriptions and application forms for both grant programs are available at L’Anse Village Hall.
