L’Anse Area Schools Ask Drivers To Obey “No Left Turn” Sign

Drivers near the L’Anse Area Schools are being asked to obey a “No Left Turn” sign that is meant to protect students walking home from school.

School officials posted a request for the public’s help in keeping kids safe on their Facebook page.

The sign is located near the Pizza Shack in L’Anse and is in effect from 7:00am to 5:00pm.

Students cross Broad Street at that intersection when the traffic clears and if a vehicle turns left at that time, the students will be directly in the path of the vehicle.

School officials say there has already been one “close call” reported.

They ask that all staff, parents, and students obey the “No Left Turn” sign when they leave the school.

Local law enforcement has been informed and they will be monitoring the intersection more closely.
