Two of Michigan’s Five Great Lakes have once again set new records for monthly mean water levels.
This from an email from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District.
Lakes Michigan and Erie set new records for May.
Lake Michigan last saw levels this high back in 1986, while Lake Erie broke last year’s record.
Heavy rainfall in the middle of May helped the two Great Lakes break the records.
The Corps warned residents who were impacted by last year’s water levels, to expect more of the same this year.
They also reminded residents they will need a permit, if they decide to take on a project to slow erosion.
