The Copper Country’s first major summer event takes place Saturday.
The Baraga County Lake Trout Festival will be held at L’Anse Waterfront Park.
After two years off because of COVID-19 concerns, Barb McEwan of the Baraga County Convention and Visitors Bureau says the community is ready to celebrate. Interest is high, and vendor spaces for the craft fair have sold out.
Activities early in the day include the new Trout Walk and Run, and a three-on-three basketball tournament. The craft fair and sidewalk sales open at noon, along with the kids carnival, and the kids fishing pond. Karaoke will begin at 2:00. Kids can also enter the coloring contest, and the pie eating contest. There is no charge for any of the children’s activities.
The day also includes the Keweenaw Bay Classic fishing tournament, with prizes for lake trout and salmon caught in Keweenaw and Huron Bays. Late registration will be offered at the mandatory captain’s meeting Friday night at 6:00 at Meadowbrook Arena.
