Despite lower than average rainfall last month, the water level in Lake Superior held steady compared to August.
The latest report from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District shows that rainfall in the Lake Superior region was nearly 25 percent below normal in September. Still, the water level held slightly above average for this time of year.
Levels for all the other Great Lakes declined in September. That’s typical for autumn. The Corps’ prediction is that Lake Superior’s levels will begin their seasonal slip this month, but will still stay slightly above their year-to-year average.
