All Ladies Invited: ‘Quit the Sit’ Aspiring Women Event May 22

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Sitting ducks are an easy target for a many serious health conditions. Health experts are even saying, “Sitting is the new smoking.”

Aspirus Keweenaw invites all ladies to Quit the Sit, another fun, festive and FREE Aspiring Women event in Houghton on Monday, May 22. The event takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the Memorial Union ballroom at Michigan Tech. Advance registration is required. Call 337-6541 to reserve your spot.

Quit the Sit will feature Aspirus Physical Therapist Jeff Baril and ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certified Personal Trainers Crystal Holzberger and Stacy Bussiere. Learn why health experts are relating sitting to smoking, and find out how you can build activity into your day to maintain your health.

Quit the Sit will be Aspirus Keweenaw’s fifth Aspiring Women event for the community and organizers anticipate an even bigger turnout than the last.

“There’s no better time than spring and summer in the Keweenaw to get out and get active. This will be a great way for women to come together and support one another in being more active,” said Jenn Jenich-Laplander, Aspiring Women Coordinator with Asprius Keweenaw Hospital. “This is yet another Aspiring Women event you won’t want to miss.”

Aspiring Women is designed to inspire health and wellness through educational and entertaining events for women. Since Aspirus Keweenaw launched the program in the community in May of 2016, membership has grown to over 500 women of all ages.
